    There are so many famous places in Jakarta, such as: Monas (The National Monument), Jakarta Convention Center, Fatahillah Museum, The Ragunan Zoo, Beautiful Indonesia In Miniature "Taman Mini", The Ancol Recreation Area, The National Monument "Monas", Taman Ismail Marzuki "TIM", Sunda Kelapa Harbour, Fatahillah Square, National Museum, The Textile Museum, The Armed Forces Museum, Pulau Seribu The Thousand Islands.

Here, I suggest you to visit Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature or TMII. There are many places that you can see in TMII, such as: the traditional houses from some provinces in Indonesia, some monuments, etc.

SUN PARK and the RAIN

        What is on your mind when you hear about Sun Park? Is that the hot spot that make you sweat? How many degrees of heat? Well, actually the Sun Park which I mean is one of the recreation places in Bogor. The ticket is less than ten thousand rupiah. You can enjoy some games there, such as: Rafting, Cyling Water, Flying Fox, Bumper Boat, Paddle Boat, Big Balloon, etc. The price of each game is different of course. Unfortunatelly, it was rain when i came there. So, i could not enjoy all game.

Ondel-ondel and Beer Pletok

                Have you tried “Beer Pletok”? Or maybe have you drunk it? Well, Beer Pletok is one of the traditional drink in Jakarta. The taste is different with another beer because the ingridients are from ginger, sugar, dried Java chili, salt, water, clove and other cooking spices.

Actually, Beer Pletok is the traditional drink from Jakarta. If you visit Jakarta you have to try it. I guarantee you will not be drunk.  While drinking it, you have to try Asinan Betawi, Ayam Syampok, Dodol Betawi, Gado-gado Betawi, Kembang Goyang, Kerak Telor, Keredok, Ketoprak Betawi or maybe Kue Akar Kelapa. Those are the traditional foods from Jakarta.  

 

Acording to Wikipedia (July, 2011) Ondel-ondel is a form of folk performance using a large puppets. It originated from Betawi, Indonesia and is often performed in festivals. The word ondel-ondel refers to both the performance and the puppet.

Ondel-ondel, the puppet, is about 2.5 meters tall with ± 80 cm diameter, made of woven bamboo. It is constructed in such a way so that it easily lifted by one person from the inside of the puppet. The puppet is usually dressed in brightly coloured garments, and in some occasions, in traditional Betawi clothing. The puppet's mask face is typically made of wood, and the hair from dried palm tree leaves that has been shredded lengthways. An ondel-ondel can either be of the female or male gender. The wooden mask of the male puppet is traditionally painted red, while the female painted white.
